Approach to Training
Sarah offers a personalised and collaborative coaching approach, where the dancer becomes an active participant in their development. In her approach, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by setting goals, identifying their strengths and areas for growth, and continuously assessing their needs throughout the process. This level of involvement empowers dancers, giving them a sense of autonomy and responsibility for their progress, while Sarah provides the necessary guidance and support to facilitate their growth.
What sets Sarah’s method apart is the collaborative nature of the training. Rather than following a traditional format where the teacher dictates the direction of the class, Sarah fosters an environment where the student’s voice is not only heard but prioritized. Dancers are seen as equal participants in the learning process, creating a space where they are encouraged to explore, experiment, and refine their craft in ways that feel authentic to them. Sarah values the input and feedback of each dancer, viewing them as key partners in shaping the learning experience.
This approach leads to a dynamic and supportive learning environment, where the student and teacher work together towards a shared vision. By empowering dancers to be active decision-makers in their training, Sarah creates a space where creativity, growth, and self-awareness flourish, and where each individual feels respected and fully engaged in their artistic development. The result is a richer, more meaningful learning experience that not only helps dancers achieve their goals but also nurtures their confidence and independence as artists. This approach is particularly effective for dancers who may not thrive in traditional teaching environments, including those who benefit from a more individualised and adaptable approach to learning.

Class Description
Sarah’s tap classes start with rhythmic drills that awaken the feet and sharpen timing, instantly building precision and musical awareness. From there, technical exercises expand each dancer’s step vocabulary, fostering clarity, control, and confidence. Drawing on both classic rhythm‑tap and Broadway traditions, the combinations explore a wide range of musical styles, from vintage jazz to contemporary pop, encouraging dancers to listen deeply and treat their movement as an instrument. The class cultivates artistry and rhythmic storytelling, turning choreography into music in motion.
Each jazz/lyrical session begins with a fluid warm‑up designed to energise the body, build strength, and enhance mobility. Dancers then progress through centre‑work and across‑the‑floor exercises that refine technique, coordination, and dynamic control. Combinations pull inspiration from traditional, theatrical, contemporary, and lyrical jazz, giving students the freedom to explore a full spectrum of styles. Throughout, Sarah invites dancers to connect deeply with the music and movement, uncovering their individuality and authentic expression in every phrase.
Sarah’s ballet classes follow a classic structure, starting at the barre before moving to centre work, adage, pirouettes, and allegro. The emphasis is on using sound technique to generate ease and fluidity rather than chasing a fixed aesthetic. Through vivid imagery and an anatomical understanding of the body, dancers learn to work with their own mechanics, developing both efficiency and artistry. By weaving together diverse stylistic influences, Sarah helps each dancer nurture musicality, coordination, and expressive control, uniting precise technique with poetic movement.
